Wedding FAQS

Have a read through some of the common questions I'm often asked. Anything else? just ask.

How much coverage do you offer?

My popular Gold package is 10 hours coverage so for most weddings includes the preparations, ceremony, family photos, bride and groom photos, wedding breakfast, speeches, through to the cake cutting first dance, partying and twilight night shots to finish. Plus lots of natural candid shots of guests throughout the day. I do have smaller 4 hour, 8 hour or larger 12 hour packages too. Here is a link to the page. Packages

How long after to see photographs?

Normally 2-4 weeks after the wedding (depending on busy time of the year), all edited photos will be ready to view via an online gallery which is password protected.

Will we have access to an online gallery?

Yes, the images will go online for you, family and friends to see. This is password protected. professionally printed photos can also be purchased directly from the gallery and delivered right to your door.

How many pictures will you take?

The number of pictures that I take may vary depending on the type and time of wedding, amount of people, the venue, the lighting, etc. I generally provide approx. 500-750 edited images of the day. If the preparations or the evening extension are not required then this may be a little less.

If I don’t like having my photo taken?

Don’t worry most people dislike having their photo taken and haven’t had professional photographs taken before and believe they are not photogenic. However, with my style of natural reportage photography, beautiful shots are captured without you even being aware I’m there, which can make for some of the best pictures. I do take couples off for some special photos, although i’m very easy going and put you at ease. I give you direction to make it very easy and there isn’t lots of cheesy looking at the camera photos.

What albums do you offer?

I offer beautiful stylish storybook albums made in Italy by the premier wedding album manufacturer Graphi Studio. I have many samples albums for you to look through. Please see examples of wedding albums on link below. https://www.dohertyphotography.co.uk/storybook-albums/

I design your album and send out a pdf design for your approval before going in to production. Parent albums, guest books and miniature books are also available.

How does the album design process work?

I provide an online gallery and you can select your favourites and i’ll get to work on a design for you. Once designed, I send you a pdf design to approve. There is no limit on the number of revisions that you can make. Once you are entirely happy I send it for production in Italy which take 4-5 weeks.

Can you suggest a list of group photos?

Here is a list of  the popular family/group photos I often cover. I normally suggest 6-8 group photos.

1: B & G with both sets of parents

2: B & G with brides immediate family

2: B & G with grooms immediate family

3: B & G with all Bridal party

4: B & G with close friends

5: B & G with everyone

Do you travel far and do you charge extra?

I travel both nationally in the UK and internationally for weddings. In the UK, travel is charged at 40p per mile in excess of 50 miles from my address to the wedding venue. For weddings where a flight is necessary, expenses include taxis to/from the airport, the flight and accommodation.

What happens if I’m sick on the day?

In all my time photographing weddings, I’ve never had to cancel due to ill health. However should the unthinkable happen, I have a strong network of photographers with whom I have worked with previously and can call upon. I will always do my utmost to make sure you are not let down.

What if it rains?

With our unpredictable weather in the UK, my policy is to always be prepared in case it does rain. I always bring a white umbrella should there be some rain and it can actually make for some great photos as you will see in my gallery. It doesn’t normally rain all day and so there are usually opportunities to get outdoors. However, if it chucks it down all day, then I also have studio lighting which I can easily set up indoors for some professional photos of the bride and groom and the family photos.

Are you insured?

Yes. I have both public liability insurance for £2m and £75k indemnity insurance.

What happens if your camera fails

I shoot on Canon professional cameras using only the best Canon ‘L’ Series lenses. I always have 2- 3 cameras and lots of lenses so plenty of spare kist in the unlikely event that one goes down.

Do you work with an assistant?

For the majority of weddings I tend to work alone. I do however offer the option of having a second photographer for large weddings if you wish to have an extra angle on things or to ensure shots of both the bride and groom preparations. Majority of weddings I work alone and in doing so am able to be very discreet and float around capturing lots of magic moments.

Who owns copyright of the pictures?

Every photographer retains the copyright of the images. However, you have an option to purchase the printing rights of all the images allowing you to print/enlarge the images for your own personal use. This is the USB box set I offer of all the images.

Note: Not to be used for any commercial use.

Do you require feeding on the day?

A warm meal or sandwiches helps to keep me working at my optimum. If you decide not to feed me, please let me know in advance so i’m prepared as often some venues like barns don’t offer a bar meals for me to buy something. Please remember, i’m there from preps to the partying so it’s a long day without a decent meal.
